⚙️ Create and Manage Learning Objects
Prerequisites
- Minimum access: Administrator
Context
You can create a catalog of learning objects in Whoz and link them to specific skills. This enables 2 powerful capabilities:
- Automatic recommendations: Whoz intelligently suggests relevant learning objects to talents based on their identified skill gaps
- Self-directed learning: Talents can proactively search for learning objects to develop the skills they want to acquire
Important note: While Whoz doesn't host the actual learning content, you can add a URL for each learning object to provide direct access to the training materials.
💡 Key Point: While you can manage most information about a learning object in the Admin interface, you must use the API to modify its global or local status as well as its associated workspaces.
Create a Learning Object
- In the Admin app, navigate to Repositories > Learning Objects.
- Click Create a learning object.
- Enter the following information:
- Title: Name of the learning object
- Description: Brief overview of the learning content
- Type: Category of learning (e.g., course, training, certification)
- Duration: Expected time to complete
- Language: The language of the learning resources.
- URL: The link to the learning object.
- Skills: Associated skills that will be developed
- Complete any additional fields as needed.
- Click Save to create the learning object.
API-Only Configuration
The following learning object properties can only be modified using the API:
- Global status: Whether the learning object is available across the entire federation
- Local status: Workspace-specific availability settings
- Associated workspaces: Which workspaces have access to the learning object
